This fella possesses the unbridled mind that, back in 1981, gave birth to TimberTown. However, Matt is quick to point out that he could not have accomplished this without the loving support of his wife, Delia (Dee) who willingly agreed to invest all their cash reserves, sign personal bank guarantees and put their home up as collateral, all while caring for their first newborn, a boy, at home. Luckily for TimberTown, this love and support continued as Matt added more stores at work and Dee added more kids at home. Together they decided to stop at four children, but the business kept right on expanding, thanks to the addition of an amazing business partner, Dick Karperien, and many more key staff. With all the company’s success, Matt does lament the ridiculous hours he worked while his kids were young; that is why to this day, TimberTown prioritizes our employees’ work-life balance. Fast forward 40+ years, and Matt is still active in the business daily with he and Dee spending their spare time with grand kids and supporting many worthy charities as well as building and operating two Youth Sport training facilities: JVCENTRE Smed Lane Sportsplex and the Dinos Volleyball Academy.
