Grade/Texture: Premier Grade / Wire-Brushed
What are the grades of solid hardwood? We offer several grades of solid planks, which vary based on the natural imperfections in the wood itself.
- Select & Better: Includes mineral streaks, pin knots, and nuanced colour variations.
- Premier: Includes some colour variation with a low number of character marks and pin knots. There are no open knots, heavy mineral or character marks, stains or checking.
- Builder: Includes character marks, colour variation, mineral streaks, pin knots, small filled knots, and micro cracks.
- Select: Features all of wood’s natural features: colour variation, mineral streaking, limited pin holes and small surface knots and checking. This creates a floor that is full of visual texture. Neither filled nor open knots are found in this grade.
- Heritage: Features all of wood’s natural features: colour variation, mineral streaking, limited pin holes and small surface knots and checking. Also includes heavy mineral streaking and can have large filled knots up to 2" in diameter.
- Advantage: Includes significantly more colour and grain variations than what is typically found in Builder Grade.
- Tavern: Includes open knots and defects, colour variation, micro-cracks, mineral streaks, pin knots, and board lengths as short as 8”.
