Solid hardwood flooring is cut from a single species of wood and has been used in homes for centuries. For example, a solid maple floor doesn’t just contain a top layer of maple, it is one solid plank of pure maple, from top to bottom. Solid hardwood can be pre-finished with protective layers (such as textured matte vs. shiny) in the factory, or sold raw and coated on-site. The main advantage of solid hardwood its lifetime usability because it can always be sanded down and refinished without reaching a layer that is different than the wood species on top. TimberTown sells solid hardwood that is responsibly harvested and made in Canada.

We offer three grades of solid planks, which vary based on the natural imperfections in the wood itself.

• Select & Better: Includes mineral streaks, pin knots, and nuanced colour variations.
• Builder: Includes character marks, colour variation, mineral streaks, pin knots, small filled knots, and micro cracks.
• Advantage: Includes significantly more colour and grain variations than what is typically found in Builder Grade.
• Tavern: Includes open knots and defects, colour variation, micro cracks, mineral streaks, pin knots, and board lengths as short as 8”.
